About Lene Bruun Kolff
Lene Bruun Kolff is a Danish textile artist, born 1943, who has developed a unique method of working with embroidery, textile and collage. Her pictures, that are often very large, can be viewed as a form of "painting" with thread. Since the work is very time consuming, it provides ample opportunity for immersion into an inner world. Even though the process is in many ways meditative, the themes in the pictures often reflect current political, cultural, as well as historical events and debates. As well as embroidery, other methods and materials are used, such as photographs, magazine clippings, lace, fabric, and things found in nature. Apart from pictures, Lene makes conceptual scultures and installations.
Lene is part of a local art group Primus who have exhibited every Easter since 1986 Every time a new theme became the framework of that year's exhibition.
Over and above these exhibitions, Lene has participated in many other exhibitions, mostly in Denmark, but also in Germany and New Zealand. She has also organised workshops and given lectures, for example healing embroidery.
